Charles is a practising barrister specialising in civil and commercial matters. He is also qualified as a Greater Bay Area lawyer based in Qianhai, Shenzhen.

On the dispute resolution front, Charles is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, an arbitrator of AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre as well as an accredited mediator of HKMAAL.

Charles is Adjunct Professor of Law at the City University of Hong Kong. He teaches JD courses on contract law and company law.
